Menstrual cycle symptoms
Menstrual cycle symptoms vary from individual to individual. Some menstrual cycle symptoms, however, are characteristic of a large majority of women. Each person experiences various intensities of these menstrual cycle symptoms and depending on the pain tolerance of the person, each one will describe the symptoms in various ways.
One of the most common menstrual cycle symptoms is cramps. Almost every woman has some experience of this; ranging from very mild to excruciatingly painful. The trend is that the women who have comparatively mild cramps, experience heavier flow, while women who have very severe cramp pains, have a lesser flow. The reason for this is not very well understood. Menstrual cycle symptoms that involve cramps, usually last at the very beginning to the middle of the cycle (depending on the woman this can be anywhere between two and six days). Many women, who have very severe cramp pains take painkillers such as acetaminophen, and a large portion of these women women also take birth control which more efficiently reduces these menstrual cycle symptoms .
Although premenstrual syndrome is widely known, most people are not aware of the fact that many women experience mood swings and emotional instability during their menstrual cycles as well. Another very common menstrual cycle symptoms is hormonal imbalance that causes many women to become more emotional and irritable. Many women describe this symptom by saying that they get angry, or want to physically harm someone who is being irritating. This is not uncommon and nothing unusual. The high surges of various estrogen hormones cause neurological changes that, for the most part, cannot be controlled. One the cycle is over, and the hormones return to their proper ratios and levels, the emotions also return to normal. Unlike with cramps, there is no quick fi for these menstrual cycle symptoms . Although, some new medical breakthroughs do promise a solution to this problem, few have actually be shown to be effective.
Other menstrual cycle symptoms involve skin breakouts. This, again, varies from woman to woman and also varies from one cycle to the next. Many women report that it is only during (and before) their menstrual cycle that their skin breaks out into zits. One of the best ways to tell if the break outs are a result of hormonal changes caused by the menstrual cycle is by noting where the breakouts are most abundant. The chin and upper forehead area indicate zits that are a result of hormonal imbalances and alterations. These usually clear up as te period comes to its end.
A little less common of the menstrual cycle symptoms is the uncomfortable bloating and weight gain experienced by some women. Many report gaining as much as 10 pounds during their cycle .This weight is nothing to worry about, as it is usually due to water and is quickly lost after the cycle is over. However, right before and during a woman's period, the bloating and weight may mean she cannot wear tight jeans and that little black dress.
Just like most other menstrual cycle symptoms , this one has no "cure" and must be endured along with all the other discomforts.
